Flux: Experiment One

Making AI Beautiful

Challenge

As branding becomes increasingly shaped by algorithms and AI content, real human movement offers a powerful way to bring back emotion, personality and genuine connection. Very Good joined with motion design expert Scyld Bowring, noted choreographer Monika Felice Smith and acclaimed dancer MaryAnn Chavez to experiment with a unique form of hybrid human/AI storytelling.

Response

At our Very Good Space soundstage, the team collaborated on a dance sequence representing human beauty and strength, which was then improvised by MaryAnn Chavez in real time. With this captured in rehearsal form, Scyld began to experiment with AI-generated layers and effects capable of elevating the story into a work of visual art. The dance was then blocked and filmed again to become a true motion capture, or live asset, onto which Scyld — now joined by a music composer, editor and AVGA Creative Director Polly Beale — could create the final composition.

Result

A transformative look at the intersection of human movement and AI that is not only enthralling to watch, but reminds brands and artists alike that originality and human connection will forever be essential elements, especially in an ever more digitally rendered world.
